STATE CHAMPS!

STATE CHAMPS! The Reavis Ultimate Frisbee team competed this weekend for the state championship title at the Illinois Youth Ultimate State Tournament at Stuart Sports Complex in Montgomery, IL. They defeated Downers Grove South in the final match with a score of 13-0. Congratulations to Coach Illichman and our Ultimate Reavis Rams!

Princeton University Summer Journalism Program

Congratulations to junior Claudia Kania who was selected for the Princeton University Summer Journalism Program! She is one of only 40 students that were carefully selected and will be flying out to Princeton's campus for an intensive, 10-day all expenses paid seminar on journalism. Classes at the program are taught by reporters and editors from The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, CNN, and more!

Spring 2017 Exam Cram & Final Schedule

We want to take a moment to invite students to participate in our annual Exam Cram in the Library from 2:35 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  on Monday to prepare for Tuesday’s exams. Very little makes us more proud than watching our students take their tests seriously—Be part of the camaraderie of Exam Cram!

Senior Awards Night

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 Seniors who were awarded at the Senior Awards Night May 3, 2017.  A very special thanks to our faculty representatives and our local scholarship businesses and families for being part of this special night! #Classof2017 #SeniorAwardsNight #RamsAreResponsible

S.T.E.M. Camp

Reavis High School will be hosting a S.T.E.M. camp for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from Tuesday, July 11th through Thursday, July 13th.  Sessions will run from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Students who attend this camp will learn about computer programming, 3D printing, and computer-aided design in a fun environment.  The camp will be hands-on, project-oriented, and action packed.  The is cost to attend is $70 and includes the cost of a Raspberry Pi which students will keep.

Figments

The Reavis Drama Department’s spring production of Figments is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday @ 7pm!  Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
 

1st Annual Community Job

A very big thanks to our local businesses for attending the 1st Annual Community Job Fair at Reavis High School.  A special thanks to our guidance department facilitating this amazing event!  Our students were professionally dressed, prepared with resume in hand, and engaging during the interview process.  Congrats to our students for participating in this day!
 

WYCC – PBS Photojournalist

Advanced Placement Art student, Armando Cobian shares his experiences contributing as a photojournalist for WYCC-PBS.
 
"It's really cool to be able to say I contribute to a well-known news station in Chicago. Thanks to WYCC – PBS, I am able to begin living my dream.
 
With that being said, I want to start talking about the problems that come with being a photojournalist.
 

Workshop and Tryout

Reavis Dance: Do you love to dance? Are you interested in being part of the Reavis High School dance team during football season? Come join us on May 1st for a tryout workshop where you will learn basic technique and a routine. The first session will be 3:15-5:00 and the second session will be 6:00-8:00. The routine will be performed and judged during the tryout on Tuesday, May 2nd. Everything will be held in the Wrestling gym. Come pick up a tryout packet or see Ms. Duszak with any questions in room 239. See you there!

Congratulations to Advanced Placement Art students, Crystal Rea and Jessica Vazquez who won Best of School and Honorable Mention at the South Suburban Conference Art Show.

Advanced Placement Art students awarded scholarships to the American Academy of Art!

Senior, Noah Caballero placed 14th out of more than 200 students in the American Academy of Art Senior Scholarship Competition earning him a scholarship to attend the Academy.  
Senior, Kalie Van Hurst won the American Academy Digital Art Scholarship, and will also be attending the American Academy of Art this fall. 
 
Congratulations to Noah and Kalie as they pursue higher education and careers in the arts after graduation.

The Reavis AP Art students shined in the 2017 Scholastic Art Competition!
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7–12.
Of the 23 AP art students whose work was submitted, 17 received a Gold, Silver, or Honorable Mention! 
These 17 students won a total of 35 awards! 
 
The top art pieces at the regional level were moved onto the national stage where two of our students, Jennifer Fernandez and Carla Vazquez, won Silver National Medals!
 

Reavis artists win top honors at the Moraine Valley High School Art Show!

Senior, Advanced 3-D student, Anna Bukowska’s mixed media sculpture, “Broken and Unspoken”, took home the 1st Place title for Reavis. Senior Noah Caballero was awarded the 2nd place Reavis title with his oil painting titled, “Back”.  This piece also was awarded the Moraine Valley Award, one of the exclusive three top show awards! Senior Hector Lopez’s painting, “Journey”, won 3rd place for Reavis.   Congratulations to each of these talented artists!
