Winter Break

Reavis High School will be closed from 2:00pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011 until 7:30am on Monday, January 9, 2012.  January 9, 2012 is a teacher institute day.  Classes resume for all students at 7:55am on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.  Happy Holidays to the entire Reavis Community, and as always, GO RAMS!

Snowmen Shindig

On December 1st, the Reavis Library was transformed into a Winter Wonderland as students and staff gathered to view the unveiling of a variety of snowmen created by student activity organizations.  FCCLA students provided hot chocolate and homemade cookies to the crowd, and the musical ensemble "Bluenotes" provided holiday tunes creating a festive atmosphere.  This annual event is sponsored by the Reavis Student Council.

Reavis Art Student Leads by Example

Congratulations to Sucha Chantaprasopsuk (Class of 2011) whose art work has been chosen as 1 of 4 examples to represent amazing concentration work on the College Board website.  Not only was Sucha’s concentration work selected to be presented on the College Board website, BUT her work was chosen as the example of the Score of 6!! The BEST of the BEST!!!  (the other ratings are 5, 4, 3)  It is like she won first place of thousands of portfolios!!! 

Reavis Holiday Spirit

This Holiday Season, many Reavis Student Activity Organizations joined together in a Holiday Donation Drive to provide support and goods that help our Troops, Children and Families.  Themed "Reavis Holiday Spirit: Hope for the Holidays" the drive ran from December 1st thru December 16th.  They collected Non-Perishable Food, New Unwrapped Toys & Games, Pet Food, Blankets, New or Gently used Coats, Hats, Gloves, Mittens, and Scarfs. The Students Activites office was overflowing with the donations collected as they were sorted on Friday to be distributed throughout the community. 

Class of 2012

350 seniors will be attending this year’s senior breakfast  on board the Odyssey.  They will be boarding the ship off Navy Pier on November 22nd for a morning filled with food, fun, and breathtaking views of the magnificent Chicago shoreline. 

AATSP Poetry Competition

¡Felicitaciones! Congratulations to 5 of our Spanish III Honors students who participated in the AATSP Poetry Competition this past Saturday.  Stephanie Cárdenas, Kassie DeGrado, Jesus Diaz, and Steven Gudyka took 1st place.  Alondra Segoviano took 3rd place.  Our poster competition winners, Dayana Reyes and Karina Valencia, each received a second place ribbon for their poster design to promote the study of foreign languages.  ¡Buen trabajo!


This is to inform everyone that the situation that occured in the Bedford Park community this morning has been resolved.  At no point were students or staff at Reavis High School in any imminent danger, however we did take precautionary measures.  At this point in time we are back to business as usual.  I would like to commend everyone involved in securing our school for their outstanding efforts.

SSC Journalism Winners

Reavis journalism students pulled a trifecta, placing in all three competitive events at the annual SSC Journalism Conference. Competing for Reavis were Gabriela Herrera in Yearbook Copy Writing, Anna Wypych in News Writing, and Damien Reyes in Review Writing. It was a great day for the Writing Rams who were the only school to have a winner in each event.

Burbank’s Fire Cadet Program

Applications are now being accepted for Burbank’s Fire Cadet Program.  Any sophomore student, who is a resident of the City of Burbank and interested in becoming a firefighter is encouraged to apply.  Applications are available in the Guidance Department and the CTE/PE office.  Completed applications are due on Monday, November 21st.

An Octave Above

Reavis High School-Grossman Auditorium

Awesome performing group AN OCTAVE ABOVE (featuring friend of Reavis Music Department, the illustrious Ms. Meredith McGuire) will be gracing our stage!   Come see what these amazing, professional musicians can do using only their voices!    Performing music originally done by groups as varied as Manhattan Transfer to the Beatles to Evanescence, this enchanting group will be sure to be an incredible experience for everyone!

Financial Aid Forum

The Reavis Guidance department is sponsoring a Financial Aid Forum for students and their parents on Wednesday, November 16th at 7:00pm in the Library. Frank Palmasani, founder of will discuss the affordability of college, details of financial aid, and how to avoid financial traps.

Ram Pride

Moises Zarate (Class of 2012) has been awarded First Place in the 2011 First Amendment Student Art Contest sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League, Greenberg Traurig and the Chicago Tribune.   Over 500 Art entries on the theme “How do you use one or more of the five freedoms in the First Amendment in your everyday life” were submitted and his artwork was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges for this award.  As a first place winner, Moises will be receiving a scholarship check at the dinner in the amount of $1000.  He submitted his work with the help of Social Studies teac

Drama Club hits the Stage

Don't miss Reavis High School's fall production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying". Performances will be held in the Grossmann Auditorium on November 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  Doors open at 7:00pm, and the curtain will rise at 7:30pm.  General admission is $7.00; students (with I.D.) $5.00.  Senior citizens are complimentary.  The Reavis community is invited to come out and enjoy an evening at the theatre brought to you by the students at Reavis High School.

IMEA Qualifiers

Congratulations to music students Mary Trovato (Sr., Flute) and Gary Galindo (Jr., Voice) on qualifying for the IMEA (Illinois Music Education Association) District I honor festival.  These students will be performing with students from all over our district November 19th at Downers Grove South H.S.  Great job!

"Reavis Day"

On Saturday October 22nd, members of the Reavis community gathered at Westfield Mall to view the$2500.00 prize presentation to Reavis High School for winning their recent Give Back to Schools promotion. At the ‘Reavis Day’ celebration the Drama Club, Cheerleaders, Marching Band, and Dance Team performed for the crowd and Dr. Dague accepted the check, thanking Westfield Mall for their generosity and support of our school.  The school will use the prize money to buy a new ram statue for the patio.

Blood Drive

Attention all students and staff, Reavis High School will be hosting a fall blood drive on Tuesday October 25 from 8:00am till 2:00.  Why donate?  You can receive a free T- Shirt, earn points toward scholarship money for Reavis High School, but most importantly you can SAVE a LIFE!!!!  You must be 17 or older (16 with parental permission), at least 110lb, in good health, and have a photo ID.  

Red Ribbon Week

October 24th - Oct 28th is RED RIBBON WEEK at Reavis.
The Mission of RRW is to bring awareness and attention to the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, as well as creating a safe and drug-free school and community.
