LISLE, Ill. - It is with great pleasure that the Benedictine University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announces the 2013 Hall of Fame Class.
JAMES TRACY, C77, Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Psychology, FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK AND FIELD A top three-sport athlete at Benedictine, Tracy earned 11 varsity letters and received all-conference, all-district and all-state academic as well as all-district football honors. He also finished 2nd in the 110m high hurdles and 4th in the 400m intermediate hurdles in the NAIA District 20 meet his senior year. Tracy graduated “cum laude” in 1997 as well. A Blue Key National Honor Society member, Tracy was active in the Sunday Recreation Program for developmentally Disabled Adults and also started the Charter program at Benedictine for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Post Benedictine, Tracy was a successful head high school basketball coach at both De La Salle and Reavis high school in Illinois. He won 269 games at Reavis, a school record, and has won 427 games in 24yrs as a head coach. Tracy has received numerous coaching honors, including Chicago Catholic League, IBCA District 2 and District 7, SICA North, and Southtown Econ omist Coach of the Year Awards. Tracy has been on the IBCA (Illinois Basketball Coaches Association) Board of Directors since 1989. Tracy served as president of the IBCA from 2007-09 and currently is the assistant executive director. In addition, Tracy is a member of the IBCA Hall of Fame (2007) as well as the St. Laurence Hall of Fame where he attended high school. The Benedictine University Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1997 by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Benedictine University. The Hall of Fame inductees are recognized and honored for their exemplary athletic achievement and/or those who, through their service, have significantly contributed to the growth and success of Benedictine University Athletics and student-athletes. The Hall of Fame Ceremony will occur on February 9, 2013 with lunch and program commencing at 11:00 a.m. Both Benedictine basketball teams will host Marian Univeristy that afternoon. |
