Our Physics students were shining stars at Reavis’ First Annual Physics Day on Wednesday May 9th. Students in Mr. Gadomski’s and Mr. Hurley’s Physics classes were instructed to use their knowledge of physics to construct a pinewood derby car, build a trebuchet/catapult, or conduct a sports analysis. Students presented their projects to a group of mentors from the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) community. The group of mentors included representatives from Argonne National Laboratory, Northwestern University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Saint Xavier University, Sahs School, Liberty Junior High School, as well as several engineering and construction experts. We are extremely grateful to these professionals who dedicated their time to this event. The mentors were impressed with students’ ability to communicate how they used physics to design their projects and with their professional and respectful behavior throughout the day. We are so proud of the way our physics students represented Reavis High School at this event!
