This is Reavis District 220 Superintendent Dr. Riordan with an important message:
At approximately 12:20 this afternoon, we went on a soft lock down of our school campus. The school received threatening emails, so we did this to protect our students and staff while trying to verify the authenticity of the threats. Random staff members had received emails so we took this matter seriously. We worked all day with the Burbank police department and school continued – bells and passing periods as always.
At 2:15 pm, we had found no real evidence of a credible threat and decided to proceed with a modified 2:36 dismissal procedure. We cancelled our academic Ram period and the students’ exit was safely orchestrated by teachers, administrators, and Burbank police officials. We also offered bus service to any of our walkers. All of our students were safely dismissed by 3:10 and we want to thank all of them for their cooperation.
We continue to investigate this situation and will report to you any further information if necessary. It is our plan to be open tomorrow for our Senior’s second to last school day, but will notify you if there is a change. The safety of our students and staff is, and will always be, our first priority.
Thanks you. And as always, Go RAMS.
