Reavis Families:
The last six weeks of the semester are upon us! I would like to thank you for a successful first 12 weeks of the school year. As we look back, we have much to be proud of this year: expanding our RAM FAM with the welcoming of the Class of 2027, an all-school assembly to unite us as a school, a HoCo celebration with our annual parade, fall sports with a state appearance by freshman Santiago Chavez, our Marching Band and Co.’s outstanding performances, a MEAN Girls production reminding us clear is kind, parent teacher conferences where we connected together about learning, an unforgettable ABC7 Flyover appearance and victory, and so much more! Thank you to all of our staff, students, families, and community for your endless support to bring these experiences to our campus.
Academic rigor expectations will continue to increase as the semester/year continues. Our commitment to a guaranteed and viable curriculum is strong and our professional learning communities have prioritized collaboration to determine what we believe every RAM should know to graduate high school. Best practices in grading and assessment continue to develop from research and our faculty is committed to an evidence-based approach aligned to our essential standards and learning targets for each course. Parents often ask how they can help in the learning endeavors of high school students. We could use your help to ensure students arrive on-time for school and come prepared to learn starting with an open mind. Our faculty and staff are prepared to prioritize content and skills in each class.
We value a whole student approach at Reavis. Social emotional learning is valued for all students as we know it impacts academic excellence. Students have access to a plethora of resources from our behavioral health team, counseling department, and nurse. Our related services compliment student success by teaching students skills to reduce stress, manage anxiety, and build positive relationships with others. We strive to build an inclusive school environment that empowers all students. I want you to know I am visible in the hallways and classrooms every day to support our faculty efforts and get to know our students individually. I encourage you to talk to your students about what they are learning in school, how they are feeling, and reach out to us if you need us. We look forward to more opportunities to work with you. We are partners in this journey.
We wish you a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Julie Schultz
