Reavis Parents & Families:
The purpose of my message to you today is to connect with all of our Reavis Families. I have experienced several major national and local events in my years as a Reavis Educational Administrator: several school shootings, 9/11, the Great Recession of 2008, the 100 YR Flood of 2014, and now COVID-19. When faced with each of these tragic and devastating situations, I have always approached them with these two questions: 1. How does it affect Reavis High School? and 2. How can I assist, problem solve, and lead our school/district through this unfortunate event? Obviously, our current situation is much, much different than those previous events, but I am confident that if we can stay calm & connected, work together, be flexible, and find solutions to help our students, school, and community, we will get through it. These are the two questions you can expect me to continue to ask and answer throughout this worldwide COVID-19 Pandemic.
Here is a breakdown of some very important information for our families and communities.
e-Learning Plan & Process
-
With Governor Pritzker extending the Stay at Home executive order through April 30th, the Reavis Building and Campus will be closed for normal educational activities until this order is lifted.
-
With that said, Principal Schultz will communicate with our students, through email, giving very clear and specific guidelines for our e-Learning Plan moving forward.
-
You should all be proud of the work that our teachers and administrators put in these last two school years to develop our e-Learning Plan.
-
Our Plan is 1 of only 10 out of the 66 districts in the South Cook Regional Office of Education to be approved before this pandemic occurred.
-
We know there are, and will continue to be, questions (grading, student engagement, etc.) as we move deep into the e-Learning process, but rest assured, these questions will be answered collaboratively and swiftly.
-
We continue to ask everyone to be connected and flexible as we plan and chart through these uncertain times.
Building Hours & Operations
-
The building will reopen starting Monday, April 6th, but we will limit it to select & necessary personnel.
-
Any parent or guardian who needs to come to the building, is required to check-in with our main lobby security and then proceed to the main office.
-
Meals for our families will continue on Monday, April 6th as well. An email will go out on Friday with specific pick up times. These meals can be picked up by Door H. If a family cannot come to the school, please contact us and we can deliver it to your home.

We will keep everyone updated as new information comes in.
-
In closing, I want you to remind all of our students, parents, and families, that although the next few weeks may be uncomfortable and a bit stressful…we will get through it. Never underestimate what we as a Reavis community can do when put to the task. I wish everyone calm, serenity, and health during these difficult times. We are here to help our students and community, and we will work together until we can get back to normal.
