Summer Newsletter

Parents/Students:

Reavis Academic Mastery (RAM) period will occur in the middle of the day to allow for an advisory period that will provide academic support, behavioral support, and enrichment opportunities for all students.

Advisory is a targeted time for students to do makeup work, retake tests, receive extra practice, or have a quiet space to review during the school day. Students will also have access to large group presentations, social work and counseling groups, and college and career readiness information.  Students will have some choice in their advisory selections in order to meet their needs week by week. Teachers will also be able to schedule students into their advisory period when they feel it is necessary for their academic success. Advisory scheduling will occur one week in advance for both teachers and students.

Moving RAM to a mid-day advisory period will change the school bell schedule starting in the fall. Advisory will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 2nd and 3rd period; however, the school day will still start at 7:55am and conclude at 3:05pm. We will continue with our late start schedule on Wednesdays with no Advisory in the middle of the day, so school will end at 2:45pm for students on Late Start days (see detailed bell schedules below).

Some additional information:

  • All students must sign up to be in a location

  • Teachers can pre-assign their students

  • Student sign-up: Fridays during Advisory; Changes can be made if needed

  • Students with all A’s/B’s can attend a classroom advisory or opt for alternative programming

  • Alternative Programming will include medium to large group presentations, interventions, enrichments, or school wide information

  • Students will receive training on how to sign up during their first week of school

Alternative spaces students with A/Bs can utilize:

  • Collab Lab

  • Library

  • Senior Courtyard (weather permitting)

  • R3

  • Auditorium

  • Cafeteria

  • Resource Center

We will continue to share more information

related to transportation later this summer.

Sincerely,

Julie Schultz
